So this morning I hit up McWethy, after sleeping in. I love having time off! Brittany said I could use some of her clay, so I did, and made two vases, and my very own utensils holder for my own kitchen next year! Should I make it match the plates? Perhaps. I'd have to put Celadon on thick and add cobalt to the rim. It's currently 7"x5" and that's good because I'm shooting for it to be 6"x4" after the bisque.
I'm excited about these vases because I first made really good SOLID cylinders to start out with, and perfect cylinders, where I actually utilize all the clay at the bottom with raising, are hard for me. Well, they're hard to get really tall and uniformly thick. I left thick bottoms so they'd be bottom heavy and not tip over when you put flowers in them. I think I would like to make a pitcher tomorrow?
Things I'd like to handbuild for the kitchen: A sauce spoon holder, a butter dish, a fruit platter, a big bowl to match, and a napkin holder.
AH it felt so good to get back down to McWethy! I can't wait to go again tomorrow! I think between lunch and choir will be my designated "Pottery" time. Julia mentioned wanting to go with me. Maybe we can go down and handbuild together!
After dinner, yoga, apartment hunting, and maybe, maybe some Moulin Rouge with friends?
