Today did computery things, made Mix 9 for Sammie, and laughed my butt off at Bryn and Sammie dressed up like idiots and dancing making fun of slutty girls. They're absurd children. I then went on a walk with Mom and Joey, and stretched with Mom afterwards. Mom thinks that because of where it really hurts when I stretch (aka don't stretch) that it's not my muscles that are really the problem with my inflexibility, it's first and foremost that my ligaments are way too tight and not supple and stretchy. I think that makes a lot of sense.
My answer? Well there's not a whole lot I can do about that, but I can start taking glucosamine like an old person and stretch daily to at least keep my back and muscles from getting so taught and achy. So that's the new plan.
After stretching, I craved Greek food so bad that I looked up where I can eat some soon in Denver (Greektown in Denver, here I come!) and had a hot pita which I dipped in olive oil. My mom said she's not sure she'd like Greek Food. That was the most astonishingly ridiculous thing I've heard all week.
Then Mom and I went out for a movie but ended up just going to the drive through liquor store (geez, only in Colorado...) to get some white wine because the line was long at the dollar movie kiosk, and then had noodles and watched TV with Sammie.
Honestly I don't know where the time has gone since then. I feel rather lazy. I tried to do some Latin in Mom's room while watching Raymond, but I just couldn't concentrate hard enough to think through each translation.
Latin is so fucking hard, fyi, especially at speeds like the block plan, or grad-level Accelerated courses. I miss easy easy easy-ass Spanish, the simplest language to learn ever. I miss SVO word order. I think that's the hardest part about translation; you can't just kind of know what a word means and be able to get the gist of the sentence. You have to know exactly what tense and case every single word is in before you can even begin to break down what it all means. I'm only on chapter three and between 1st and 2nd declensions, and the Active and Passive Present, Imperfect, and Future tenses that's already 72 different endings I've memorized in a week! Hard to keep it all straight. I mean take something really simple - "The happy boy will walk to the field."
puer laetum ad agro ambulabit.
Puer - noun: Irregular, Masculine, Singular, Nominative Subject
laetum - Adjective: Regular, Masculine, Singular, nominative
ad - Preposition that takes accusative
Agro - Noun: Masculine, singular, Dative of Indirect Object
ambulabit - verb: 3rd person, Singular, Future, Active, Indicative.
I guess I just feel discouraged by the Chapter 3 Readings, because the real ancient Latin quotes were beyond me. "mutuis animis amant amantur" - "They are being loved by the shared souls they love" what? I can't figure out how possibly to translate that quote any differently! Oh well.
Time for a shower. I should go to bed early maybe.
