Hi there. I'm still alive. I know it's been forever since I've posted. I've just been working and knitting. Not much interesting to say, so here are some pictures of recently knitted things.
First, we have a pair of Crosshatch Lace Socks. The pattern is from Charlene Schurch's
"More Sensational Knitted Socks", and the yarn is Fortissima Colori Socka Color in color #2412 Nature. As I always do, these were modified to be toe-up with a short-row heel.
Also, this yarn has the longest color repeat I've ever encountered, as evidenced by this photo. It took me about 1.25 socks to finally see repeating colors. Crazy!
Next, I whipped up a really quick pair of chunky mittens for a coworker. He came into work the other day with hives all over his hands because his car's heater just broke and he's apparently allergic to cold (like some people get heat rash). When I gave him the mittens a few days later, he thanked me at least a dozen times, showed them to all our other coworkers saying, "Look what Carissa made for me!", and did a little dance while singing, "I've got mittens, I've got mittens, I've got mittens..." I think he liked them.
They're made with Bernat Softee Chunky in Myrtle, and I made up the pattern as I went along.
Then I made myself a pair of
Fetching mitts with just one skein of SWTC Karaoke in #302 Ocean. Instead of setting a few stitches aside on waste yarn to be knitting into a thumb later, I just increased gradually for a thumb gusset and bound off those stitches instead. I hate having extra ends to weave in, so if I can make them with only beginning and ending tails, I will.
They are beautiful and I love them, but I wish they matched better. Whenever the sleeves of my jacket cover the wrists of the gloves, all you can see is turquoise on one hand and royal blue and black on the other. Oh well. I still love them and have worn them almost every day since I finished them.
Since
I made my husband a pair of
Cigar gloves, I decided to make another pair for his friend/boss/cigar buddy also. These were made with Cascade 220 in #8555 Black and Cascade 220 Heathers in #2442 Beige. They're a little big on my hand (second photo), but it's kinda hard to gets boys to model knitted things for FO pictures.
