Forgive me, readers, for I have sinned. It's been two weeks since my last blogpost. Where to begin?
The job is going well. I'm still working on building up speed making drinks on the espresso bar, but at least I know how to make everything now, well, most everything. There are a few infrequently-requested drinks the recipes for which I have to confirm with a coworker before proceeding. But I'm doing well and liking the job more than I thought I would.
The knitting is also going well, but slowly. Less free time, plus being pooped when I get home from work, means fewer FO's. Sorry.
So this first one is crocheted, but you'll like him anyway. I made a Flying Spaghetti Monster ornament for my brother. I used remnants of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Worsted in Cranberry (crocheted over two wooden beads) and Lion Brand Wool-Ease Sportweight in Fisherman, and I made it up as I went along. My brother has since added some plastic eyes so that His Noodliness may watch over us all.
When I started working at Starbucks, I showed my manager, Robyn, the
POISON! coffee cozy I made for myself. She loved it and even asked if she could commission one for her sister for Christmas. But she wanted it to look like the cardboard sleeves that Starbucks puts on its hot drinks. Thus, the Starbucks Coffee Cozy
pattern was born. I used Cascade 220 in Black (8555) and Cascade 220 Heathers in Forest Green (9447) and Beige (2442). I would've used a lighter green, but choices at my local yarn shop were limited to this or lime green. Oh well, it looks good anyway. I even embroidered a "3" and an "A" for a Triple Tall Cafe Americano, Robyn's sister's favorite drink. And I made a second one for Robyn, whose fave is also a Triple Americano (they're twins).

In recent months, my husband has gotten into cigar-smoking. He doesn't inhale, just likes the smell and taste (ugh!). With me not allowing smoking indoors and the weather getting cooler, he wanted a pair of semi-fingerless gloves to wear when smoking. The pattern is Knitty's
Cigar, and the yarn is leftover Cascade 220 Heathers from the coffee cozies. I increased each finger by one stitch because my guitarist husband has muscular fingers, larger in proportion to his palms than the average guy. They're a little loose on my hands (second picture), but they fit him fine.
I just finished these socks last night and wore them today. This is my third time using the
Jaywalker pattern, second time using yo's instead of kfb's for a more lacy look. I also worked these toe-up with short-row heels. The yarn in Lana Grossa Meilenweit Magico in color #2523. I ended the first sock near the point in the color repeat where I had started the first sock, so the second sock would start at the same point and, hopefully, the stripes would match up well. They did.
I also made some little, kitschy poinsettia coasters for all my family for the holidays. They're just cut out of felt and hot-glued together - quick and easy, along the same lines as last year's
mini stockings. I grouped them in sets of four for each household.
That's about it for now. Here's hoping it won't be another two weeks.
