#59: In Love Again

May 16, 2008 07:33

Hi, first-time recapper here! It’s like the first day at school, I’m all nervous. Since my mother threw out my old SVH collection, I’m going to make do with whatever I can find in the charity shops. So far I’ve found... well, this one. Bear with me, it’s stupidly long. I don’t have the art of concise recapping down yet ( Read more... )

Great recap :-) I actually liked the rambly-ness of it - a longer recap = more room to snark!

The name Skip makes me think of...well, skips.

She drives to the country club with Todd and gets angsty because Todd’s car has a CD player. Head, meet desk.

Word. "OMG, he's got a CD PLAYER in his CAR!!!!!111 The OLD Todd didn't have a CD player in his car!!!!11 He's become a horrible snob!!!!!11" Shut up, Elizabeth.

Why are they speaking like they’ve been badly translated from the Korean?
*snerk* In Love Again, brought to you by Kioku Fansubs. Does he refer to his "omma" with a little note over his head saying "Omma means Mother"?

Please reassure me: Sixteen-year-old Americans know the answers to these questions, right? Right?

Thank you. And these are the "smart" kids? Ladies and gentlemen: the Sweet Valley education system!

And don't sell yourself short; this was freaking awesome. :D

Heh, thanks. I was caught in a plague of self doubt about what this community really wants out of its recaps. I'll be less apologetic next time!

Well hello, the curriculum at SVH is just English, Lunch, and a couple French classes. How are they going to know the answers to those questions?

Also:

“Yea, Todd and Liz!” Yea? That’s an oddly Biblical choice.

I think you should know that I now have "Yea ToddandLiz we greet thee, born this happy morning..." playing in my head.

Yea, Todd and Liz, though they walk through the Valley of the Shadow of the Breast, yet they do not fear/ For Lisette's hath constructed a string bikini which is skimpy yet doth support and cover withall...

I could continue, but I know there's a part about a rod and staff comforting, and that doesn't seem very Todd, now, does it?

Sounds more like Mr Collins, actually - comforting his rod with his (Oracle) staff... :P

So the Dominique ANTM, was that this season where she looked like a bad tranny from Transylvania. Where poor Michelle came from also?

Glad I didn't read the book. I don't think my head would have made it. Because, seriously, Lizzy makes me wanna hit things...with a broken beer bottle. As for the bowl thing, it's like a scholastic competition. Tada! Mostly the geeky people were on it. Not the popular ones. I know this as my friends in high school were on it.

Oh yes, definitely this season's mad tranny Dominique. Couldn't stand her.

Liz makes me want to hit things too - I'm on the lookout for non-Liz books to restore my brain a little!

I didn't watch it really because they're dragging the bottom of the barrel at this point. They all look like old contestants at this point. Though, I was glad Whitney won. Simply because she wasn't a size two. Toccara should have had that, though.

I don't know of any SVH that aren't centered around Little Miss Sunshine. Even Crazy Margo wanted to be her. Oh, you could look for Lila's story. Lizzy ain't her friend. Might have to deal with Amy Sutton, though.

Is it necessary to use the expression "tranny"? I've always heard it used in a terribly derogatory/transphobic fashion, or am I missing some context here?

BWAH! Well done, Miss Hellfire...and yes, where I am from anyway, sixteen-year-old Americans know the answers to the phenomenally stupid "college bowl"....I don't think I've seen "true or false" since I was seven!
