Herp de blerp. More optimistic than my downer post last night.
Had a fire scare at 3 this morning. We've had a few other false alarms from stupid people cooking and then opening the door instead of the window, but since this one wasn't at mealtime we got dressed and hightailed it outside, Tabby's cats in tow. I still don't know what happened; I didn't see any smoke or flames but it was dark and it's a big building so who knows. We got back inside after about 45 minutes. I have decided that the prospect of all my things being lost to a fire of someone else's doing is the Biggest Official Downside of living in apartments. (Though we do have renters' insurance.)
Couldn't sleep well after that, so I am super wiped out today. It's rainy and sticky out though so work has been slow. I've got a big sample jug going out later today, so it's cold-steeping in the corner. Am over halfway through The Golden Key; I had forgotten so much of the later story! I haven't read it from high school, but still...a bunch of this stuff is just coming out of left field. Hurrah for new-old books. :) No Country For Old Men is next, then Starship Troopers...then I will look into buying A Dance of Dragons! I can't believe it's been 6 years.
