Six Years

Well, today is the sixth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Normally I wouldn't bring up such a serious topic, but my father was in the air that day - specifically, his plane left from Newark and was two gates away from the planes used to fly into the Towers. He saw those passengers just hours before they were killed. I remember being petrified when I remembered that he was flying out to Chicago that day - I was sick to my stomach until I left my middle school and saw my mother had come to pick me up. She let me know that he was fine. My father and I are practically clones of one another and we have always been very close (my kid brother is more like my mother), so almost losing him like that was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

There are some happier things today, though, like the fact that according to this blog here, it's Jacoby Ellsbury's birthday. Yay, Jacoby! Hopefully, that means he'll celebrate it on the field tonight...The same blog entry also explains the mystery of Jacoby's single sleeve, which I got to see in person yet did not figure out anything about from this live viewing, and even mentions that Manny Delcarmen is now a father (congrats, Manny!). Otherwise, there's nothing new going on in the Nation.

My Dustin (Thatcher) did something wonderful last night, though. I was about to go to bed when I ended up mentally writing one of the most amusing conversations between him and Basil I have ever heard. I just sat there and let them talk. Now I have to write it down - it works perfectly for one of the themes for the

hanachan01 and I signed up to do. Although we haven't been officially approved yet, I'm starting the writing anyway just because it's fun. I won't tell you everything, but I will say that there's a bit of role reversal...

It's currently raining, and it feels strangely appropriate to me today for some reason. Today just doesn't feel like a day that should be bright and sunny. On 9/11, there wasn't a cloud in the sky where I lived, so every time I see a cloudless sky I think of 9/11 whilst the people around me comment on how brilliantly blue the sky is. I've always liked rain better anyway.

And on the lighter side, it makes my incredibly humid dorm room cooler.
