So...I've been busy looking for work and watching a whole lot of Asian dramas and movies in the meantime...

When I find a job, it's seriously going to cut into my fangirl time.  :(  Oh well.

I've recently started watching the Japanese remake of Hana Kimi, the Japanese remake of Korea's "You're Beautiful" (called "Ikemen Desu Ne"), and the live-action "Ouran High School Host Club."  Here's my thoughts on all of them so far.

Hana Kimi 2011:  I've watched the first 3 episodes, I am less than thrilled with the cast.  I'm pretty sure none of them have prior acting experience, and if so, not much.  Also, to quote , "Where are the ikemen, where?"  IMO, the cutest "guy" in the show is the girl...how sad is that?  Lol.  The plot follows the manga more closely than the 2007-2008 series did, which is the only reason I'm continuing to watch the show. Another problem I have with this remake is the complete lack of Oguri Shun.  Sano Izumi does not exist without Oguri Shun in my opinion.  Anyway...the plot is sucking me in, even though I have major issues with the casting.

Ikemen Desu Ne:  I've watched the first 2 episodes.  I really loved the Korean version of this show, Jang Geun Suk was A-MAZE-ING as Hwang Tae Kyung!! ♥♥♥  The guy playing Ren (same character, new name) isn't bad either.  I liked him in Gokusen (season 3 + movie), and he's not quite as good as Jang Geun Suk, but he's not terrible either.  A few plot points have changed, but nothing major.  So far I'm finding the Japanese version pretty enjoyable.  :D

Ouran High School Host Club:  Love love love the anime.  The first episode of the live-action is really good too.  I've actually watched it multiple times.  There are a few things from the anime that I wish they'd left in (light bulbs that light up as each of the hosts figures out Haruhi's a girl, and giant flashing red arrow pointing out the vase she's going to break as soon as she walks in to the host club/music room, namely).  All in all, the cast is pretty well chosen, the only two I don't entirely agree with is Hunny-sempai and Mori-sempai.  Hunny is too tall, Mori is not tall enough - also, they gave Hunny this weird size-changing ability which just makes him look freakishly weird because his head is too big for his body.  Do not like that part.  The rest of it is very well done.  :D

Still waiting on subs for the first episode of Arakawa Under the Bridge.  :(  *shakes fist at subbers* Hurry up!!!!!! ;)  J/K!  I love subbers and appreciate everything they do.  :)
