Were football players a big deal at your high school?
I have an unfortunate and embarrassing love for high school AUs, but the football player adoration that's often there part never rings true for me. I think I could have vaguely said who was on the football team in my high school, but I certainly never knew who played what. The quarterback wasn't a school celebrity. I'm pretty sure I would have had trouble naming the quarterback, and I missed one home game during my entire high school career. (I was in the marching band. Football game attendance was mandatory.)
...of course, I also didn't go to high school in the South. I have an idea it's a bigger deal there.
