Realism v. optimism.

I have what I think is a realistic outlook on the world. For example, it has been one of my great frustrations in grad school that no one takes me seriously regarding my problems with math. I tell people (professors, GSIs, friends) that I don't understand and I think I might fail the course, and they inevitably tell me that I'll be fine and I ( Read more... )

Have you looked into a tutoring program? I know, it takes away from your valuable internet time. Being an adult sucks. Sorry sweetie.

I'm sure you don't mean to sound as condescending as you're coming off here.

No, dude, of course not! I feel this way about everything in life - why do we have to be grownups? Why can't we all just stay home and write fan-fic all day? I wish we could. I suppose if the whole world did, society would fall off into mania, but I at least wish people I think are awesome (re: you) should have less bad things in their life and more fun happy fandom time. I'm sorry it sounded condescending. I really meant, I'm sorry you're having a sucky time at school and I know being a grown-up literally can blow sometimes, and I wish you more fun times. I hate anything that takes away from my valuable internet time. Honestly. Boo responsibility! Yay fandom! And I hope people stop telling you to think positive because that really doesn't help you with math. I've been there. It was always my worst subject.

Sorry, I'm touchy about this. I have worked REALLY HARD and I'm still failing so it's frustrating when people suggest things that I have tried already. Like they think I'm just sitting around and playing on the internet all day, when I really am actually trying pretty hard.

Well, I have been screwing around more than I should, but I also put in several good hours of studying today! Tomorrow there will be more.

No, dude, I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm making stupid suggestions when I haven't taken a math class since freshman year of high school and I failed at it back then. In random other news, I wrote you fic. Actually, I wrote it like way back when we had those 4400 conversations. I've just been lazy and haven't posted it yet. Shall I do that tomorrow? Will that help your stress level? It's not really 4400, but it's John Winchester kindasorta 4400. That made no sense. But it will when you read it. Hugs you and hope things get better soon.
