Never thought I'd say this...

I never thought I'd say this, being me, but I'm COLD!!! *shivers* I had to set my laptop on top of my kotatsu! I hope the computer doesn't overheat itself... I'm also glad I have an electric futon to sleep on, too. For those of you who sleep in regular, Western style beds with mattresses, the electric futon is similar to an electric blanket, except ( Read more... )

Forgive my prying, but I've heard this "Soul Society" mentioned a few times now and I was curious as to what it was, exactly.

I believe most humans call it "heaven." It's where all good and redeemable souls go when they die.

Who are you, again?

I'm Nakaura Tomonori. *Gives a slight bow* My apologies for not indroducing myself before speaking.

I see. *Looks a bit thoughtful* Would that make you an angel then?

((OOC:Name was given in Japanese order.))

(OOC: Thanks! In the original Japanese, Hitsugaya refers to everyone by their surname without a suffix.)

It's the first time we meet, if I'm not mistaken, Nakaura. Apologies accepted. *doesn't bow* I'm like an angel, but actually my kind are called shinigami.

Shinigami... I didn't think such things exsisted but at the same time, I can't say I'm suprised to meet one. *His eyes narrow a little as he mulls this over* What do you do as a shinigami?

((OOC:Tomonori's interested in something. I should be thanking you. lol))

Shinigami themselves have two jobs: "guiding" the departed souls of humans to Soul Society - the after life, and exorcising good-turned-evil souls called Hollows. The ultimate task is to maintain balance between the worlds.

The way it sounds to me, the shinigami may very well be the basis for the idea of angels. What I mean is that when people speak of seeing them, maybe what their seeing is one of the shinigami. *Pauses* You wouldn't happen to know anything about a race called "Erasers" would you?

It's possible that human accounts of angel sightings are based off of seeing an actual shinigami, but it's unlikely for two reasons:

1) A human needs a lot of reiatsu (spiritual pressure) in order to see a shinigami - a lot. More than 99% of humans have zero reiatsu, and a very tiny amount possess a little. So, it's extremely rare...

2) It's more likely that due to a human's imagination and overwhelming need to anthropomorphize everything, that they created the idea of angels. It's not so far-fetched to imagine something like oneself only glorified.

As for "erasers" being a race, I've heard of no such thing. The only erasers I know are those shinigami responsible for erasing the memories of humans who have been attacked by hollows - not to mention various other covert op reasons.

Just theorizing. All it would take is one rare person to see one to start the idea. It's also unlikely that people would come up with something so close to a race which really exists without actualy knowing about them.

I see. *Sighs* Thankyou anyway.

That is true... If one person sees an idol in a food product, it creates a strange following. Humans have a natural tendency to believe in things they can't see.

You're welcome. {{I don't know why he's thanking me... o.o;;}}

Hmm. It was a pleasure speaking with you. *Brief smile* I don't come accross people with whom I can hold intellegent conversations very often.

{{No surprise there...}} *makes no comment about intelligence aloud* Thank you for the honor.
