So I am now at the infamous Buffalo State College.
Packed up stuff Thursday and had friends of our tenant raise the seat
on my bike. More packing Friday and then Rebecca and I set off. Got to
school, parked and found where to go then unloaded for like an hour.
After convocation (I have no idea what that means) I found this dude
Pablo I knew from orientation.
We watched Bensin, they played during the picnic. I
talked to them afterwards and it turns out they used to be Dinkis 9; a
ska band that played Syracuse a bunch of times. They sounded okay but I
still think the dudes are a little fruity judging by their past and
talking to the keyboardist (is that a word?). After that we decided to
go somewhere to buy an Ethernet cord so I could get online. Went and
found Philippe first who we knew from orientation. Got the cord at
Office Max or Staples then went on a tour of Buffalo. Explored downtown
around Main Street and Elmwood, drove past all the venues I had heard
of.
After all that Pablo dropped us off but I forgot the
cord so he rode back on his bike awhile later and we went to the art
museum. It’s free on Fridays after 5 so we biked over. But on the way I
saw these two punk looking kids I noticed at convocation. I started
talking to them, turns out their names are Ashley and Matt and they are
from Syracuse and Rochester. Ashley hangs out with Sean Flanagan so we
knew a bunch of the same people; though she’s never been to the
Westcott which makes me sad.
Went to the Art Museum, the Albright-Knox Art
Gallery to be specific and locked up our bikes. The museum is all
modern art, huge 15 foot pieces like a giant green glob the goblin in
Spiderman would throw. There was a display with thousands of little
cups filled with different colors of paint that you could look out
over; rooms where the paintings spanned the entire room.
When Pablo and I got back Ashley and Matt were still
there so Pablo left and I hung out with them for a couple of hours.
Matt walked around playing his accostic guitar and talking. Some dude
came by on a bike wanting to go to Perry so I rode with him over there.
Around 2am we all headed back to our dorms. Ashley and Matt are
clustered together in Porter because they’re the education learning
community.
