full moon out on the bay :-)
Tonight a band called Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian circus of dreams came and played at our school. They were ridiculous. We started off like good audience goers in our seats but soon the students revolted, chairs were moved, and we danced. My gosh did we dance. If ever in my life have I become a dancing fool it has been now in my time at COA. I mean we are fools when it comes to dancing everywhere around here. I love it.
Geena has given me the last of her peanut butter to put on my apple right now. I think this is a true sign of friendship. I mean its fuckin good peanut butter. We got it at the local co-op; it’s the kind you have to make yourself. So yes I think this is a sure sign that I am successfully integrating myself in the college life.
Yesterday I breathed underwater so that was lovely. I then pulled my regulator out, didn’t panic, didn’t hold my breath, didn’t die. Yeah I am well on my way to being “more fun than a regular person”, as my PADI declares a fact in their awesome informational dive movie.
There was also an open mic. People here are ridiculously talented, blah blah, I love them and I love the constant of music everywhere. Mikus played hit me baby one more time on the guitar and it was hilarious. Dan and Sam broke out their guitars and decided to just jam, soon Ben was rocking the harmonica, and Mikus and Cora laid out the beat with some bongos. I love people who have no plan to play anything but can just get going and jam and others just join in.
Kate, Geena, and I walked about in the moonlight and eventually ended up by the dock talking to Oliver about infomercials. Apparently in New Zealand there are lots of American infomercials and whenever people do a mock infomercial it’s always in the American style. Oliver then proceeded to imitate the classic American infomercial until laughter consumed us. He knows more American infomercials then me, and he is from New Zealand! That is simply absurd.
Oh we had a shindig fun of inauguration this weekend! We all got somewhat dressed up on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and inaugurated David Hales; it was sweet. We also formally announced our commitment to be a completely carbon neutral school- the Washington Post then wrote an article about us for it :-) afterwards we ate obscenely delicious food and had chocolate fondue, followed by pure bliss in the warmth of the fall afternoon by the sea.
Ok good story- I went to the mud flats today with marine bio. I got soooo much mud in my boots it’s insane. I almost got seriously stuck in the mud a couple times as well. We went- paraded our way not so gallantly through the mud- found lots of worms to bring back and observed clams. It was pretty damn sweet. Who knew marine worms could be so fascinating! We looked at clam worms back in the lab- they have freaking fangs! They are just worms!!
Ok that is that- peace out
