And now, for a little self-indulgence. Here's something else I wrote some time back. It's AU and sort of relies on my background for the characters so it might be confusing. Or not really.
Title: Familiar?
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Characters: Xigbar, Xaldin, Luxord
Rating: G
Note: Basically, the first six are apprentices, currently on a journey to widen their knowledge about the worlds. During one of their stops, Xigbar realises something.
"Are you sure, Xigbar?"
"I'm telling you, man. That sexy lady flirting with Zexion used to be in my class!"
"When you were in kindergarten, you were six. How can you possibly remember something as trivial as that?"
Xigbar remains insistent. "I'd remember. Anyway, this place looks really familiar. It's like seeing everything a second time and the memories, kind of, you know, deja vu and stuff."
"Xigbar, we're in a supermarket," Xaldin deadpans.
"Which also looks very familiar!"
He sighs, knowing that the conversation will probably go nowhere. "Look, let's just get the bread and leave, okay?"
"Xigbar?"
At the sound of his name, Xigbar turns around to face the stranger: a tall blonde man carrying a shopping basket half filled with groceries. For a minute, neither of them do anything other than stare at each other, the blonde wearing an expression of utter disbelief while the other's face wears a vaguely confused look. Then, Xigbar's frown breaks into a wide grin and he throws his arms open as he comes forward. "Luxord, buddy!"
The blonde man, however, holds up one palm, motioning for him to wait. Xigbar pauses as the other turns to an elderly lady nearby. "Madame, I am terribly sorry to bother you but if you don't mind me asking," he waves his hand in Xigbar's direction, "can you see this man?"
"Why, of course, dear. I'm not that old, you know," she replies, smiling at him.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that. It's just that I'd like to be sure."
"It's alright, young man."
"Are you sure you can see him."
"Quite sure."
"Are you absolutely certain?"
"Yes, dear," she says, looking quite amused by the questions.
"I see," Luxord nods slowly. "Thank you for your time, madame."
Once the blonde man and the old lady have finished bidding each other goodbye and good day, Luxord turns to face Xigbar who is still frozen in mid-walk, looking rather puzzled by the little conversation. He is about to ask his friend for an explanation, mouth already open and words sitting on the tip of his tongue when Luxord moves forward and punches him in the face.
