It's the second day of the last week of my holidays until the second half of the month of December. Yay. I still haven't managed to find the raw scans for Oofuri -- actually I did, but none of them worked, so it doesn't really count, does it? So, I'm still getting used to this place. It's cool, in many ways.
There's something I want to try out. So, I'm going to try it out. Don't mind me.
Title: Intro - A Meeting Amongst Books
Characters: Xigbar, Luxord (AU)
Summary: Originally meant to be longer, I only got so far as one-fifth of the introduction and have since forgotten how the rest was meant to be. Set where the first six are students of a well-known and liked king who are currently travelling to broaden their knowledge.
Xigbar was walking along the row of shelves, scanning the book titles in search of the one he needed. As he continued to read, he decided that the library was indeed filled with a whole lot of books from a large variety of genres and topics, fiction and non-fiction. However, seeing as how nothing in this place was arranged, it made the process of finding the desired book quite the difficult task. Still, the longer he was away from Vexen and his arrogant nose, the better.
Stopping in front of a likely candidate, he pulled out a book and began leafing through it. Then he closed it, put it back, and selected another. It was only after he had finished scanning the contents of the third book and was in the act of putting it back that he realised he was being watched. Turning to his left, his eyes met with the bright blue of a stranger’s.
Said man was blonde and his eyes were-as mentioned before-very blue. The kind of blue that threatened to jump out at you, being as intense and mesmerising as they were; the kind that you see in passing and yet still remember days after the fleeting glance; the kind that you could stare into for hours without realising Time’s passing by.
And so, Xigbar stared at the stranger who, in turn, was staring at him with his bright but rather shocked blue eyes. And as Xigbar continued to stare, something inside his mind stirred and he vaguely recalled having seen those eyes before. In fact, if he wasn’t mistaken, that person was also platinum blonde…
…and then, like a crocodile’s mouth snapping shut on it’s prey, something clicked in his mind and he remembered exactly where and when he had seen this person, how he had first come to see this person, the environment around them at the time he had seen this person and the precise words that made up their introductory conversation, which had been about three minutes long and had been rather awkward before they both launched into a deep discussion as if they had been friends all their life-and believe it or not, he even remembered everything they discussed, although not word for word.
To put it simply, Xigbar remembered that they had met, many years ago.
“Lux-”
As if that single sound had snapped him completely out of his stupor, the other man blinked and neatly interrupted Xigbar. “The hidden and uncharted land of the Feywoods and its occupants, you say? Begging your pardon, sir, but I’m afraid that is not within my area of expertise. However,” and at this point, he had taken Xigbar by the arm and was carefully, if not firmly guiding him towards the front desk of the library where a small frail-looking aged lady sat, peering at the world through her thick glasses, “I am sure the most clever librarian is very resourceful and will be able to help you with your pursuit of locating the correct, most informative and accurate book. Isn’t that right, madam?”
“What?” the lady said.
The blonde man nodded. “Without doubt, you are in the best of hands. Now, if you will excuse me…” and with that, he released his grip on Xigbar’s arm, turned around and calmly walked away, never once glancing back.
Xigbar, on the other hand, was left speechless.
