my life is a candle and a wick

So this is a series now? Ruth ficlet; post 5.05, 600 words. There are more of these to come, because apparently Laura Marling gives me lots of ideas. Right.

you can put it out, but you can't break it down )

I am quite new to the series... I mean I used to watch it back when Matt Macfadyen was on it but nothing until this season... so I am not sure who some of the characters are but I LOVE the way you write. I was transported along with Ruth and your story flows so easily. Looking forward to more!

Well, I am flattered that is still works even if you don't know who the characters are! Thank you. Ruth is quite heartbreaking, really. The exile, and Harry, and just how NW portrays her is brilliant. (AND GO WATCH S7 NOW, because everyone in it is ACE, and there are dodgy Russians. \o/)

More is coming. They won't leave me alone! :P

(Also, where are you getting all the pretty Dimitri icons, because I only have one, which is being very overused (...unlike the character, hah.), and um, well, pretty. ;) )

She really is heartbreaking... I just want to hug her every time I see her, although I imagine she's got a bad ass streak running through her too that I haven't had the pleasure of seeing.

I really do want to catch up on the other seasons now. I can't remember how many Matt was in but I don't think that many so I have a lot of catching up to do. LOL I'll put 7 on my list to start with. :)

Yay for more!

Gah he really is... loved him on The Tudors and he's what brought me back to Spooks. My friend has been making them actually. Feel free to snatch any you like. We've opened up a Max community if you ever want to venture over:

It's only a week old but he didn't have one and we felt he deserved one. We are hoping to get more icon makers stopping by and fanfic writers (*hint hint*) and fans, of course. :)

Hah, I'm sure she does. There's an episode where she's out in the field and hits the guy they're chasing with a tree branch. :D

Do catch up. Honestly, it's a bit of a shame you'll have to put up with Adam Carter for 3 series, but the other characters make up for it. MM was in S1, 2, and part of 3, wasn't he? But definitely watch S7, for Ros and Lucas being amazing, as well as Connie (I love this show for its kick-ass female characters, really, while the men angst and look pretty. lol. :D).

Hah, I don't like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, so avoided the Tudors, but I'd seen him in Foyle's War (so. sweet.) so was pleased he'd be in Spooks. I'll have a look at the comm! (And snatch some pics) Wooh!

You do write Spooks so very well, and I love the way you've portrayed and made sense of Ruth's exile here. :-)

Oh I love this.

She can have choice, she can go anywhere in the world. Others have made this decision; she imagines Tom choosing the dreariest place he could find.

YES.

(The sea: Blackpool, Peter, lies - a born spook, she was. Was. Is. Was.)

Amazing. Yes, Ruth, completely.

She holds his gaze; she feels trapped against him. (I can't tell you, I can't say, I still live by the rules that their law says I broke.)

(I have passports for when things do go wrong.)

(They aren't wrong, here. You just aren't - )

“Yes,” she says finally. “I will tell you.”

Just, wow. What you've done with so few words in this fic is brilliant.

Thank you! Ruth and her exile are so heartbreaking, and NW just makes it moreso with her brilliance.

Tom just would choose the dreariest place ever, wouldn't he? He refuses to be happy.

And I am surprised I put Adam in a fic (peripheral, but still). I was clenching my teeth just writing his name. *g*

George and Ruth! He seemed so lovely, but he didn't understand, and then coming to England f***ed it up. Harry and his bastard decisions. Mergh.
