Loved the whole thing, also the fact that Cronos said about the future - he was pissed and dying he could have told them the opposite of what was to come.
"Kronos's warning about the future: since the boys changed the past (Dean being strangled) and the present (Sam's name carved into the wall), they probably don't have to worry too much about changing the future."
Well, I don't think they actually changed the past. The past is set. Time travelers from the future just experience the past in their present moments, but really they are fulfilling things that already happened for everyone else (if that makes sense?). Every time they go back to the past everything they do was already a part of the past-like Dean going back and telling Samuel about the house of Mary's friend being visited by the YED which is what drew his attention to Mary in the first place and the original deal happening. Like the 'Sam' carving was there, but Sam hadn't gone to sleep and noticed it yet. And the old woman only saw Dean being strangled and not actually dead, but she probably thought he died and so told Sam that.
Yes, that makes sense (and I still wish they'd made a bigger deal out of Dean being responsible in a way for bringing the YED to the Campbells' doorstep), but I'm pretty sure the old woman didn't see Dean and Kronos disappearing in a flash of red light...
It was pretty frickin' great wasn't it? I was leery at first because it was the boys apart for the second show in a row, but the intercutting of the stories was very well done and HOLEEFUCKBALLS Jensen was hot in his 40's attire. UNF.
And Sam/Jody? YES. Only, the "don't make me use my mom voice"...really? We're supposed to believe she's old enough to be his mom? No. I admit I kept shouting at the tv for them to get drunk and fuck. Is that too much to ask?
You are very right about the Dean sharing with older men that he finds a kind of kinship with...I also found it interesting that Ness' advice to Dean was basically the complete opposite of Frank's. Wonder whose he's going to take.
I also think that Chronos was only telling a part of the future, he was dying and angry, why would he tell them anything good?

I just so love that genre that I think the whole ep could've been Dean following Ness silently and I would still have loved it LOLOLOL

Agreed! There could be a whole show like that: Dean Lurks in the 1940s.

I know, right? Why couldn't she have used her "sheriff voice"? Fail, SPN writers.
