1) The quest that Jensen's older brother went on actually involved rescuing a dragon whose habitat was being converted to agriculture. They found a nice island for it and solved two problems at once when it took care of the feral pig population.

2) The royal etiquette experts were thrown for quite the loop with Jared's appearance. He was technically the oldest royalty in the kingdom, even if his kingdom had been conquered, but he was simultaneously the youngest except for Jensen's sister. They had no idea who should be bowing more deeply to whom, and it made for some very awkward months beyond the whole missing-four-hundred-years-of-history thing.

3) Bonus ficlet!

"So do you not have magic in this place?"

Jensen looked at the tall figure beside him. They were on the battlements overlooking the main gate of the castle, spring wind whipping Jared's hair. "Not that I ever heard of." He frowned. "Why, did you?"

Jared shot him an impatient glance. "How else did I sleep for so long?"
