I kinda disagree with some bits of what you wrote. I am serious about what I write most of the time which is why I get indigestion. You paint it as stress-relief. I suppose that varies from person to person though.
After my Shadowhunters post some peeps got a little edgy about how I could spazz about the series and therefore, its author, because apparently she has a scandalous history with the fanfiction community. Specifically, how she ripped off crap for her fanfics and how her fanfic writing was not the greatest anyway.
Also, I think some peeps have some irrational hostility toward fanfiction for no reason and judge it without understanding what it is. So this was my response to that.
Okay, hold up. So you're saying, that because I said that fanfiction is often an EXERCISE and that it's FUN, I meant that it can only be used for stress-relief purposes?
I never said that fanfiction cannot be taken seriously by the writer or anyone else. Just because I said that a good number of us use it for practice, it doesn't mean that I meant we write things lightly. I'm just pointing out that whatever we write, we write and share entirely on our own with the awareness that we have limited resources and a limited audience, hence the difference between
