Yes, Aleve works the best of the over-the-counter stuff. Different pain killers have different effects on different people - I found ibuprofen painkillers practically useless, and naproxen (Aleve) worked the best for tooth/jaw pain. For my adventures in pain management of toothaches, look back to my Livejournal around the first of the year (I had an emergency surgical extraction on New Year's Day, after months of trying to tough it out - $250 for the extraction, $100 for prescriptions). But what really numbed the pain (after the procedure) was hydrocodone (i.e. vicodin) - powerful stuff. I have to say, an abscessed tooth is probably the singularly most painful thing I've had to experience in my entire life. So please, don't let it get to that point, I'd move the priority of paying to get this taken care of a few pegs higher, above, oh, say, food.

Yeah, people have different chemistry. I used aceta because ibu didn't seem to do anything.
The more I think about it, the more I think it's the broken molar in back.
Yeah, I see a root canal in my future. Been there, done that.

Are you telling a Frenchman to prioritize something else over food? :D

Yes, Matt is not high- he makes a good point. Dental work is usually expensive, especially stuff like a replacement crown, but if it is a cracked molar and it's toughed out too long, it might turn into a root canal, which is even mo' money...
Don't you have a free clinic or a dental college around? Maybe you could make do with a big filling.

Yeah, root canal eventually. Been there, done that.
I'll see about a free clinic or dental college.
This is L.A. though, and I do have a job, and I'm white, so I doubt I will find much in the way of assistance.

I prefer 1000mg vitamin C, plus D to taste, against the infection.

And what about the box pain?
Will vitamins help soothe the jawache and let me sleep at night?
I THINK NOT!

"Will vitamins help soothe the jawache and let me sleep at night?"

In my experience, yes, but of course YMMV.

(Interestingly, C leads to acetaminophen retention, but you're off that...)
