Err . . . I went to see Ed on Wednesday, then went to the pub, which was nearly empty because the Goff'n'Rawk-Soc are apparently all away home for Easter. It was OK, though, because we got to recommend Top Secret1 and Dr Strangelove2 to people who haven't seen them ( Read more... )

They claim to be the loudest band in New York, and they may well be. The guitarist has a small business building special distort pedals.

Well, I can't hear their US gigs from my living room, so probably not.

It probably depends which era you're talking about. Probably not as loud as Swans were during their loudest period, but then what is?

we got to recommend Top Secret

I've suddenly remembered seeing this when I was a student and very very stoned. Even though being stoned makes me more anxious and paranoid than I am normally (which, as anyone who knows me can tell you, is Not A Good Thing), the bit where the cow tries to break into the compound made me laugh an awful lot. Really, a lot. Still does.
