New Scientist has a handy breakdown of climate-related misconceptions which could usefully be pointed to any contrarians you might happen to see in pubs on . . . . oh, Saturday nights in the Dagda or wherever.

This is good news. In my view, anyway. I can't find the actual draft bill, though. {Ah - it's hereI'm quite disappointed we're not going to ( Read more... )

thanks lots for that climate thing. I was having one of those climate arguments the other day and was stumped by the "mars and venus warming too" argument.

Yes. I had that discussion recently (one Saturday in the Dagda) and it was nice to be able to dig out an answer. Mind you, every time I have that discussion it's a different misconception. I may spend the rest of my life having the same argument.

Get those web pages printed on microfiche and the next time someone says "It's all due to cows farting of course" superglue the microfiche to their eyeballs.

If it was who I think it was in the Dagda supergluing something to their eyeballs would be a good idea whether or not it helped educate them...

Fiona Apple has an album called 'When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right' . Unfortunatly all the songs have shorter titles.

Still, 980 words and 446 characters. Not bad.

I don't care how much longer it is, no title can compete with "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". So there

I'm quite a fan of Jeffrey Lewis' "The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song" myself.

Hmm, what counts though?

I have just written this song called 'A very long name for a song, so long in fact that it's much longer than the song itself, which consists just of the word 'ah' sung to the note middle C played for one second, so you could sing the song several times rather than read its name, which you're probably wishing you hadn't started now, but it's too late because it just goes on and on and on and on until it reminds me of a passage from the Bible - "..and Seth begat Enos, and Enos begat Cainan, and Cainan begat Mahalaleel, and Mahalaleel begat Jared, and Jared begat Enoch, and Enoch begat Methuselah, and Methuselah begat Lamech, and Lamech begat Noah, and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.." - and this is the title.'
