Modern Job Hunting

I abso-frickin'-lutely hate how job hunting is done now.  There's no personal interaction.  One sends their resume and cover letter via a website to a nameless entity only to receive a rejection email from some other nameless entity.  It sucks!

It is terrifying-especially when you hope it's a legit company and not "hidden Amway"
I will still keep my eyes open for you

Oh, it was a legit company. Harvard, in fact. I wanted the job very badly, but they did not want me.

It's more like they didn't want your resume, since they never took the opportunity to meet you. Boy, that really sucks. Is everything that way now?

So far, it seems. I've filled out numerous online job applications and also had to include my resume and a cover letter. No names of anyone at any of the companies, just anonymous hiring managers. It really sucks. Jesse seems to think they used a computer program to match my resume to their job ad and if certain keywords weren't there, I was out. Scary!

Sometimes the auto-reject only takes minutes.
It is very sad to have hope last so little time.

If there is a place where you want to work, try and find a staff list on the internet. (Linkedin can be good for that. i used it a lot.)
Find someone with a job title that looks like it would be someone you would want for your boss, and send it directly to them.
Almost all the feedback I got last year was from doing that. Most of that was people saying "I don't have anything open, but I'll keep you in mind". But, it was reaching a person. And, one of the consulting jobs I got was from doing that. I searched for "manufacturing companies" in towns around me and looked up the companies that came up.
