digging

I've been doing some work in the front yard in preparation for sewer line replacement. There are a bunch of plants, pavers, etc. in the area where we'll be digging. The pavers are being stacked up on the side, while the plants are being moved to pots. So we have a row of blueberry plants all sitting in a row on the driveway. I still need to ( Read more... )

What is a nandina? Are pavers flat stones? Sounds like back breaking work, to me!

Nandina domestica is also known as "heavenly bamboo." It's not true bamboo; it only grows to four feet high or so, and produces lots of bright red berries. We have a whole row of nandinas right next to the sidewalk--they serve the purpose of a hedge without looking like a solid mass of shrubbery.

Pavers are like stepping stones, but square. People often use them to make patio areas. We used brick-colored pavers, 15" square, to make a path in our front yard. It completely surrounds the strawberry bed (to keep the suckers from spreading everywhere), with small side-paths off to the citrus trees.

It sounds nice. It must be heavy moving them around. I have a few here for a walkway to the lane.
