When I was a small girl I ended up in an antiques shop somewhere - probably in Michigan. I've always loved going through antique shops despite the allergic reactions I sometimes got; seeing things that were older than myself, my parents, and - if lucky - my grandparents was a powerful experience for me.

I could do dozens of posts on this topic. Some of the children's propaganda (in more than just the US, by the way!) is really shocking.

And yeah, it's strange how, throughout our history, the US has gone "Well... we're AMERICA. Of course we're better than you incompitent, probably racial slur people. And we'll kick your ass." At the same time, we go "Oh, we're America, we're wholesom and hate racism and would never try to annihilate anybody!"
And I agree on tha Japanese one. "Ah, it's a beautiful day.. a light breeze off the ocean, the sun is shining, just enough clouds to be interesting.. oh yeah, and lots of people are getting blown up. That might spoil the moment?""
