I think that wick does actually mean something. I think that she had no issues whatsoever with fire being her ultimate end. I mean - cats love heat, love to bask in the sun. I think the fire set her spirit free, let her form dissolve and fall away, and she leapt up, as the rabbits did in Watership Down, and rode the delicious waves of warmth up and up and up.
I think she saw your flame and blessed it, and I think that she will, in time, send you another cat to love and hold and keep dear.
I think that your grief is understandable and completely normal, but I don't think you should have any guilt.
