okay people, help me out here.

For the past 2+ months, I've taken out $20 each week and stuck it in a piggy bank. My intention was to use the money saved for my steampug (sans dirigible) tattoo, which will be going just above my right ankle. I finally counted my savings today, and it's exactly $200. Which means I can make the appointment and get my tattoo ( Read more... )

Ooooooooo! Van Gogh is such an awesome idea for a tat OMG. What about maybe just two or three of the starry night stars? Maybe swirled together and between your shoulder blades or smaller and around your upper arm? GAH I wish I could draw what I'm seeing in my head. That skull is pretty rocking though. XD

I'm sort of considering a Starry Night-style swirl around a quote in a calligraphy-style font, but I JUST DUN KNOW. *indecisive!*

Well, if it were me, I'd get the steam pug, which shouldn't be more than $150 depending on how large it is, and then save whatever you have left as the start of your Van Gogh tattoo fund. You haven't made a final decision yet on what you want and it is better to ponder it over and find exactly what you want than it is to settle on something that is 'close enough' as you will have this forever. If you end up settling, you might end up hating what you're stuck with ( ... )

Oh, I'm definitely going ahead with Steampug, as I've been set on that tattoo for over a year. But yeah, I'm pretty damn sure I want a Van Gogh-themed design for my next tat. The exploding TARDIS is AWESOME, but... Again, to do it justice it would have be pretty big, and I'm not sure I want something that large. I DUN EVEN KNOW.

You could always do a wrap-around type of design, where it starts at say, the outside edge of your arm up by your shoulder or maybe your leg above the knee or your leg above the ankle.

I guess it would depend on how big around your arm or your leg is and then you could go from there. Even if you ended up with something that would be say 3 inches high and 5 inches long, that would be more than large enough for all of the details to show up. That's roughly the size of my cow tattoos that I have going around my right leg.

Man, I'm so picky when it comes to tats. Nothing too big -- too expensive, too much to cover -- and I'm not even sure about the wrap-around style. Argh, Vincent may be out of the question since his stuff can't be simplified/re-sized without losing its essence...
