FLAWLESS FILM IS FLAWLESS. ♥ So glad I convinced my film class to watch it last semester for our midterm.
The entire cast is amazing but especially my boy Jimmyyyyyyyy. I mean, he won the Oscar for this partially for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington as well but he still totally deserved it.
It totally saddens me that he never got another acting Oscar (SO MANY OTHER GREAT ROLES!), but at least this was a really solid and fun movie to win one for!
What's really funny is that in the original play the hot journalist was another guy, and his buddy was doing everything to keep him from leaving the newspaper, but the film producers didn't feel it was dramatic enough so....
I do really love Liz's side story, though: how she was once married and is a little cynical but also much more mature than Mike, and her sparring with C.K. and Sidney Kidd is just HILARIOUS.
