You do, you do. It's fucking great and I think you'll like it, and even if you don't I'd be thrilled to talk about it with you. I don't know if your uni film coordinates will go for it, but it won best director at Cannes and, uh, so...~highbrow~?
ALSO, etirabys and I have already started fic, hahah.
And yes, you do. I saw it legit in theaters, but it's totally already on the internet for stealing. I would try to watch it on a quality screen, though--it's pretty.
I, BB, I MISS YOU, TOO. I FEEL A BIT OF A FRAUD ON YOUR LJ THOUGH, BC I'VE MOSTLY GOTTEN OVER XMEN AND RETURNED TO MY ONE TRUE FANDOM.
Yeah, I'd probably have to wait 'til it comes out here, if it does. Sometimes it takes a while for things to hit our shores :|. EITHER WAY, I'LL LOOK OUT FOR IT.
IT IS OKAY; OUR LOVE IS MORE THE X-MEN FANDOM. And I, uh, continue to look at War fandom with interest and one day I will try and get over the whole "but it's a TV series!" thing and, like. Do things. At the moment all I can manage to watch is Community and my brain really wants Abed and Britta to make out for some reason?
I AM STILL ON SEASON TWO AND THIS MAKES NO ACTUAL SENSE BUT I WANT IT.
But anyway, yeah, Drive. I sort of think everyone on my f-list who likes Batman should watch it, because: badass protagonist who refuses to use a gun! It's fantastic.
Cant wait to see "Drive"; also, i bought "valhalla rising" on dvd as a gift for a friend who is a viking/medieval history fan! Also, yes, Gosling seems to be a bit apart from Mads and Hardy in the badass category, but i think its more of a visual thing; they all share the same intense facial expressions and determined eyes if you ask me.
Yesss! You must let me know when you see it. And it was totally the viking angle that got me to watch Valhalla Rising--I was expecting random, like, period action piece and then BAAAMMFF, things.
Did you know that Gosling got Refn on the project, not the other way around? Dude totally has my respect for that--"I can have any director? I WILL HAVE REFN." Which is fantastic also because Refn doesn't yet have star power, and perhaps he never will--he's too weird--but Gosling does, so, BAM, wide release for this movie. Amazing.
I think you're right about the facial expressions, though. It's weird, too--Gosling isn't a small guy, but he looks it, compared to Mads and Hardy. I think he's just a little taller/leaner, so he looks like a pretty boy instead of a badass. But then in this film? Toootallllyyy a badass.
<3 thank you for commenting on my epic length love post, hah.
I do think it's worth seeing, obviously, and I hope the violence doesn't ruin it for you. I wish I could more accurately warn for it, somehow, but my standards are weird.
Wow, it sounds quite amazing - but it does sound like it will go waaaaaaay beyond my comfort level for violence in film, so will probably not be able to watch it. :( I hope many other people do though, so you can have a fandom! :D
That's okay, I have been waaaaaay too prolific in epic novel length comments lately, no need to reply to them all if you don't want to! I'm sure you have, like, a life to lead, and a gorilla boyfriend to romance and cats to pat and all those other important things to do instead. :)
I'll just sit here for a while going: daaaaaawwwww!!!!!! at the thought of Kane as a skittish kitten behind a couch. TOO ADORABLE!!!!
No, no, I TOTALLY WANT TO, and I wiiiill. Just not now because I'm supposed to be in bed. I'm actually probably going to be asking you for adviiice presently. I love the prolific everything. LOVE.
The more time passes, the more I realize Kane is basically Persephone (my small, awkwardly lanky cat who hides in the bathroom cupboard).
I just posted the most useless entry ever of non-Kane Gaspard photos. What am I even doing anymore.
And if you're not gonna watch Drive ever, I feel okay in being like, "read my (considerably less violet) AU fic!"
it's the best thing I've written in months, augh, what.

I'm actually emailing the film coordinators at my uni to get them to screen this.

I'm preeetty sure he is shorter than 5'9 and that's some generous embellishment there. But this is why he looks so broad!
And Gosling is apparently somewhere between 6'1 and 6'2.
The internet claims Mads is 5'11.75, however.
somehow the point of this comment became "Tom Hardy looks manliest because he is the shortest, AWWW."
this is also why I look super manly at 5'2, obvs.
