Yeah, I noticed your fights scenes were fluid as hell. Kudos! I'm normally all, "Wait, he did what? Where is he now? His arm is where? I'm confused!" And if knowledge of BJJ means lots of scenes of boys writhing around on the floor together, then I'm all for it. I'm as combat-aware as a small ballet-dancing child in a tutu, but I have been known to ask the boyfriend what it feels like to get choked out/punched in the face (he teaches a form of close quarters combat).

AUGH! Thank you for mentioning the fight scenes. I try? It's this weird balance of keeping things vague (because Batman knows so much more about fighting than I can ever imagine knowing; I don't want to describe just how he does everything) and being clear enough to have them make some sense. And of course, you can't skip the fight scenes with these two. I feel like all the energy I usually put into writing sex scenes (and my, do I usually write a lot of those) is put into trying to figure out the combat. hah. But I hate it when I read something and I'm like WHAT THE HELL I CAN'T PICTURE THIS FOR SHIT I GIVE UP ( ... )

Boy teaches something called combatives, which is purely functional and based on WWII military hand-to-hand combat techniques. He's a 2nd dan Kenpoist, too, which I prefer, because it's all pretty and graceful and not just about slamming someone's nose into their brain. ;)

Yes, yes to the knives: part of the reason I love Heath!Joker so much. Have you read Lovers & Madmen, by the way? Wildly controversial and canon-divergent, but ... Batsy gives J a Chelsea Smile in that one. Teeeeth.
