The History of Paranormal Exposure

In 2006 The Great Reveal (also shortened as the GR or simply the Reveal) was when paranormal creatures slowly began to show the public who and what they were. The different types and species worked to prevent a unified front, and to remind humans that they weren't there to take over.

Humans weren't so sure. Swiftly following the Reveal, the Accords were put into place. These included the rule that every paranormal citizen register as what he or she was, and the extents of their powers. Not everyone listened, of course, and while most have good intentions and reasons for hiding, there are others that most definitely do not.

Because of this, and because even many registered paranormals caused violent crimes, a specialty government agentcy sprung up. Its agents became known as Exterminators. They work with local and federal agencies, and the Exterminators employ humans and paranormals. They use their knowledge of the paranormal world, and, in the cases of paranormal hires, they use their abilities to hunt down paranormal threats. They've also been known to work in seperate, contracted roles.

Most paranormals despise Exterminators, because some humans only join to take out their anger on paranormals. Others feel paranormal Exterminators are betraying their kind. Most Exterminators, therefore, aren't too public about what they do.

Previously on Swept Away...
(This started as a CampNano project, so the background is a bit long. Still, better more information than less, in my opinion.)

A reality show called Swept Away was created, featured a cast of human and paranormal women all vying for the love and commitment of a celestial witch named Miku Ooka. The only hitch in the premise was that many paranormal groups tend to keep their group's secrets close to the chest, including Miku, whose abilities and status as a celestial witch are a cause for mystery.

Still, the producers hope to give the world a better understanding, to help the common human realize that paranormals are just like anyone else. And, of course, at the end of the show the goal was for Miku to find a wife, and have the ceremony performed on-air.

Well, true love never did run smooth. On the night they met, many of the girls divulged secrets about themselves. Elliot Miller's secret was that she worked as an Exterminator, and that not only could the others not know, but they couldn't know her species. It was a requirement of her going on the show, so that she could stay as anonymous in her work as possible. She explained that unlike some power-hungry Exterminators, she only got rid of the worst. As an example, she spoke about destroying a ghoul nest that was killing dozens.

After going through several candidates, it was revealed that not only was someone followind those sent home and murdering them, but they were doing it in a way that all of the contestants (and Miku) saw and were horrified.

After a few particularly gruesome scenes, Ellie began working with the police on scene. Intense scrutiny by the others caused Ellie to reveal to the remaining bachelorettes that she was indeed an Exterminator, and that she had a feeling she knew what was going on. The remaining ghouls from Ellie's earlier extermination were out for revenge.

After some debate, the reminaing three contestants, Miku, and a greenhorn Extermintor named Jacob, who had been "officially" assigned the case, and that Ellie had decided to work with. They laid an intricate trap for the ghouls, which took down many of them. When pushed, Miku uses her powers as a celestial Witch and takes the leader down, exhausting herself in the process.

They all end up alive, but injured, with the ghouls killed, and the two Exterminators present to explain the mess. At the end, Ellie and Miku admit their feelings for each other, and their desire to be together, despite the show not only having ended, but no wedding taking place.

Our current stories and canon begin where this story left off.

Our Cast of Characters

Miku Ooka - (face character is a younger Lee Na Young) - 29 years old, she's a Japanese American who belongs to a large and more traditional group of Celestial Witchs. Celestial Witches are an incredibly secretive community, largely because of the extent of their abilities. She works as an oceanographer who spends weeks away at a time at sea for her work. In Miku's tradition, spouses are together for all eternity, and it's just a matter of finding them again, and despite no commitment ceremony, Miku is sure that Ellie is that person for her. Her favorite color is purple, is afraid of beetles, and she loves instrumental music.

Elliot (Ellie) Miller - (face character is Alycia Debnam-Carey) - 27 years old, Ellie is a white woman who belongs to a family-oriented, decently sized Werewolf pack. Her brother runs is in charge of the pack. Ellie's an Exterminator, ID number 376, who only takes on the most intense of cases. She's decided to take on Jacob as a temporary partner as needed. Ever since the reality show she's been in a committed relationship with Miku. In her tradition, wolves mate for life, and she definitely feels the same emotions, the same taste, and senses towards Miku that all others in her tribe have described as what mates feel. Her favorite color is blue, she's afraid of clowns, and she loves country music.

Side Characters

Jacob - A white human guy around 23, Jacob has spiky black hair and brown eyes. A greenhorn Exterminator that has worked with Ellie once before. While once territorial over his work, he has now decided that he wants to partner up with Ellie as needed, having become friends during the final ghoul attack. He likes leather, carries multiple guns, and is decent with knives.
