[waking up no longer a Contractor with an OCD neurotic remuneration, but definitely a year older, Sam yawned and stretched. He sat up with another yawn, looking at the clock, blinking for a moment]

It's the second already?

[running a hand through his hair, he sighed]

Huh, twenty-five. Didn't think I'd see the day. Especially without Dean...

Is it bitter like coffee?

Mm, not bitter. But it's strong, and has one hell of a kick to it. At least, the alcohol I usually drink does.

There's fruity stuff with less kick that taste better.

...Kick?

You'd have to drink more of those fruity drinks to equal a shot of liquor or a couple of beers.

Sam likes to be kicked.

Only by liquor. [chuckles at her response]

Does it hurt?

Only the morning after when I have a hangover.

Hangover?

Consider it punishment for drinking too much alcohol. Usually involves being sick to one's stomach, a pounding headache, and feeling like you'd been hit by a baseball bat the night before.

[Considering all the kicking and beating that Sam is talking about Yin is becoming greatly confused...which is nothing new.]

Why do you like pain?

[laughs softly]

It's not that I like pain. I just enjoy drinking.

It is worth the suffering?
