I should really be sleeping....

Sooooo, what do we think of the "DCU reboot"? If you don't already know, in September they will be relaunching the DCU with new costumes, new origins, and new characters, and 52 titles restarting at issue #1.

Quotes of relevancy: "We really want to inject new life in our characters and line.... This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, Read more... )

Hmmmm, I haven't heard about Damian's 'betrayal'; that's... interesting, especially if it does happen after the relaunch.

*headtilt* What do you hate about Tim's characterization in Red Robin, if I might ask? Your certainly not the only person I've heard this opinion from, but... I adore Tim in Red Robin, it's probably my favorite title.

If Dick is Nightwing, there's a good chance Tim will be Robin... maybe maybe maybe Steph will be Spoiler? I dunno where that leaves Cass, though. DDDD: And yeah, just don't even get me started on the portrayal of female characters in the DCU, just... [insert rant of FEMINIST RAAAAAAAAAAGE here].

Their continuity really is fucked up. I hope they take this opportunity to do things right and not contradict themselves all the time. I know it's hard with so many writers in so many titles over such a long period of time, but... try harder DC, honestly. Star Trek manages just fine.

Maybe something really good will come out of it. Like...Jason, Damian, Cass, Tim and Steph all live at the manor and ( ... )

Totally agree about Jason's hair. I love the red, on the whole I'm glad Morrison brought it back, but... yeah, sloppy.

...Okay, yeah, that's valid. I mean, I'm totally on Tim's side and not Azrael's, and I think everyone in the Batfamily has worked off any debt of sin they might have and then some, but none of them are perfect. If they were, they wouldn't be interesting.

I mostly find myself amused by Tim's collection of ladies. I mean, he's incredibly responsible and mature for his age, but he is seventeen, and that comes with hormones. I am a bit annoyed with him about the Lynx thing, though. Just... no, Timmy, no, that is a Bad Idea anyway you look at it. Please show some self-restraint? You know, that thing you're usually so good at? Kindly stop making out with the Gang Leader of Ambiguous Moral Quality. Feel free to date Tam. She would be good for you.

Well, it looks like the news JUST came out that Damian will be Robin, with Bruce Batman. I'm...really queasy about this, to be honest, because if Damian is played like the awesome little monster he is, and Bruce's personality is what it usually is...well, Bruce is going to look like an out and out child abuser, and that will break my heart. I hope they can find a way around it, but I don't see how without changing some personalities drastically.

I haven't seen any news about Tim, Jason, Cass, or Steph yet, but it seems like that'll be coming out later today. Barbara is definitely back to being Batgirl, which makes me wonder if they'll finally clean up that messy girl Robin once and for all, which would make me so sad. Dick seems to be Nightwing, although in a much more Tim/Batman Beyond-like costume.

To be honest, what has surprised me most with this news is how unchanged most things are. I feel uncomfortable putting it this bluntly, but it looks like on the whole the awesome male characters are making it through pretty much ( ... )

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I... hmmmm... I really don't know how I feel about that. I can't imagine they'd get rid of Tim, he's too freaking popular, so... I'm wondering how that's going to work. I'd heard about Babs/Batgirl and Dick/Nightwing... isawrightless up there says, "Winick said in a lot of interview that he has a bunch of plans for Jason but can't talk about it."

Hmmm, she also says, "when someone asked about Gates of Gotham (I forgot the writer's name---too lazy to look it up)he said he couldn't be more excited. Gates of Gotham will have an issue revolving around Damian's 'betrayal'. Nobody knows what that means, but it's supposed to happen after the reboot thing." So, uh, now that we know Damo is Bruce's Robin, um. That's interesting.

Where did you get all of that information?

I'm running really really really behind on everything right now, I'm sorry! But my information so far has come from the DC blogs...tonight SHOULD be the announcement of the Super-titles, which has me biting my nails.

And oh, I can't find Cass or Steph anywhere, and I'm heartbroken. :(

At least things are seeming like they're not going to be a wipeout reboot. The insiders all seem pretty excited about what's happening. DC is just feeling increasingly schizophrenic lately, and it's starting to bug me. Honestly I'm feeling a little betrayed. I'll wait and see what happens, but I'll be seriously annoyed if they are disrupting all the cool stuff that's happening in the Batman group over the last two years. We'll see how many books I end up canceling on my pull list ( ... )

this latest announcement from Grant Morrison is a little more illuminating and encouraging. Still way too many questions.

A very compelling article on why Oracle should stay Oracle.
