I'm also very jealous of your weather. We had about five minutes of sunshine yesterday, and then it was all bleak and grey. And today, we have RAIN. D: I miss being able to go out for long walks in pleasant weather. *sigh*
Ooo, AIM fail doesn't sound like fun at all. I can definitely recommend Skype, though - especially the instant message part. (Although, the call quality is also really good if you have mics. I've been using it to call my parents/friends from Uni for the past three years, and overall it's been amazing.) I'd recommend it to anyone, really, it is pretty awesome. :)
Good luck with the continuation of the log! I hope AIM works, and if that fails then Skype goes OK for y'all. :D
