As already discussed, my long weekend at Hakalau sort of messed up the consecutive thing. I've decided to pick three things from the whole weekend and call that my Day 2

I know people who are afraid of or are disgusted by geckoes and I just can't even, I mean LOOK AT THEM. THEY'RE SO CUTE.

I wouldn't want to squash one with my head while I'm sleeping and it climbs on my pillow, but otherwise, I think they are really cute :D

We have house geckos here! They are an import, unlike the anoles.

We have a whole array of lizards, and all of them are imports (our only native reptiles are sea turtles). Anoles, skinks, several species of geckoes. The brightly-colored day geckoes are the most recent addition, and a lot of people like them because they're pretty, but I don't like them as much because they're big and aggressive and chase the other geckoes off. My favorites are the common house geckoes, because of the chirping sound they make. It's a very nostalgic sound for me, since I grew up with them in my house, hunting moths on the window screens and having territorial battles in the rafters.

Miniscule gecko is the cutest! I always love seeing your pictures on Twitter but it torments me that they clearly don't do justice to how beautiful your surroundings are...

With the right lighting photos can be pretty good, but sometimes, yeah, there's just no doing it justice, not with my amateur equipment. I mean, my phone camera's pretty freaking good, but it's still just a phone.
