Been meaning to see this movie for a while; I'd heard a lot of good things. And yeah, I liked it a lot. It was... subtle. I liked that it was authentic Hawai‘i, without being in your face about it. I hope I can figure out how to have the time for two or three kids, and that I can find someone to help me raise them. (And god, it's going to have to be soon.) I want to give them names that are important to me. I want their earliest memories to be of hiking, like mine were. I want them to be smart and motivated and athletic and healthy, to like sports and science and reading. I want them to eat their vegetables and like it. I want them to grow up in our close-knit family and feel like they're part of something wonderful, to have a gazillion cousins to play with (probably second cousins, since I can't imagine my brother having that many kids, but with how many cousins I have... oh man there's gonna be a lot of kids running around). I want to tell them all the old family stories. I want my uncles to take them on a snipe hunt. I want to watch all my favorite shows and movies with them, and read them all my favorite books ( ... )

I always thought the no-vegetables thing was nothing more/less than crappy parenting until I heard of the bitter gene.

And I'm not at all envious of your early years, no. Really.

Well, I always liked my vegetables, so assuming my kids are actually genetically related to me, hopefully it won't be a problem? ...Clearly "liked his vegetables as a kid" should be one of my criteria for selecting a suitable sperm contributor. I WILL BREED PERFECT, VEGETABLE-EATING CHILDREN.

Yeeeeaaaaahh, I got no complaints. I've had a pretty excellent life so far, with some pretty excellent people in it. ^_^
