The LA G&L Centre story does rather point up how stupid it is to give awards to big companies for acting on what seems like their commercial interest at that time (employing people in a context where high queer population is correlated with creativity and entrepreneurship in an area), and expecting them to hold to principle when the political climate changes. Large-scale capitalism is inimical to respecting diversity and recognising family in its various forms. It just is. I mean, those queers start marrying, they'lll start having kids and wanting family leave...
