UK BH US BH

I randomly decided to watch the first episode of the US version of Being Human because I was bored and it's on Netflix and...I kind of enjoyed it? Not all of it, but definitely more than I expected that I would.

I don't mind vampire superpowers in other canons. F.ex. The Vampire Diaries. B/c there's a lot of magic in-verse, so vampires having superspeed and being able to compel people and also having supernatural weaknesses like being allergic to certain herbs or bursting in flames in the sun unless they wear protective amulets looks natural. But in BH it just seems... weird. I try to treat BH UK and BH US as separate shows, but meh, the US ones comes from the UK one. It's probably good that they changed some things, but at the same time it makes things kind of banal.
I watched 1 episode of this and I don't think I could watch all of it even if I tried. I kind of really dislike the cast (esp. Sally; she's so lame compared to Annie). Compared to the UK version, this show is kind of soulless...

I don't mind it in other canons either (though I've only seen the first episode of TVD), and if I hadn't been familiar with the UK version first, I wouldn't have thought anything of the vampire superpowers here and it wouldn't have bothered me, but I really like that the vampires on the UK version aren't super strong or super fast or anything. I found that to be refreshing and different, so it was disappointing to see that they went the superpowerful route with the US remake.

With the first two eps, it's pretty hard to think of them as separate shows since the plot is still so similar at that point. But because it was so similar, it made it interesting to watch and compare. I doubt I'll continue watching though.

Yes, I think that if I had seen the US series first, maybe I would have liked it. But probably not because I don't like Sam Witwer. XD
A friend of mine made a video comparing several moments from UK and US pilots. That was enough to make me never want to watch it. XD

Yeah, I'd seen the posters and billboards for the US version here off and on over the last couple years, but I'd never felt any desire to check it out prior to this, so clearly it wasn't really pulling me in regardless...and some of that was definitely Sam Witwer (though, to be fair, I had no real intention of checking out the UK version until I finally did in January either)
