Oh, damn. You would ask that. The first takes place in the mid-ninteenth century in England. Historical fiction. The lady in question has been dealing with her parents' discussion of her impending arranged marriage and is fed up, so she goes to the garden. The garden is her happy place, and she would like to just disappear into it, but knows she can't and this makes her sad. She is considering running away and becoming a gardener, but knows that it would be a difficult position for a woman to land.

As for the second two, they take place in the same universe, which is very similar to our own, but there are people in it called Writers, who are able to alter reality or even create new, working realities, through their own imaginations and words on a page. They are very carefully policed and monitored so that they don't inadvertently alter their own realities. The girl who owns the journal and forgot it on the bus on the early release day is a Writer who is not awakened to her talent. By the bus driver not figuring out what she ( ... )
