Arbordale Prologue- Meet the Residents

I've played the Prosperity Challenge many, many times, and I finally decided to publish one of my stories. I based my neighborhood on the descendants of some of the base game playable characters. I've played this game for awhile, so I have a developed "mythos" for the game, also explained in some detail here.

The only expansion pack I have is ( Read more... )

Hi! I just stopped in from the Sims Writers' Club, and wanted to let you know I really like your ideas. I think using aspirations as more explicit things about the sims, as things they're aware of, is a really cool idea, and it totally makes sense that there would be a stigma attached to various aspirations. A also love seeing new characters with familiar roots.

The one thing that's throwing me off a little is the simselves. It seems too aware of themselves as a game... I'd change it to different governments, or maybe even different gods, but simselves seems weird, probably because I'm not used to seeing it in a story rather than a legacy.

I am, however looking forward to finding out more about the fairfolk. :)

Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you like the story.

The simselves... Hm. It *is* a bit self-aware, isn't it? It's a bit awkward in this prologue... I'm hoping that once I explain their history/political influence and lack thereof/etc in story, it won't seem as awkward. One of my goals in-story was to set the simself up as an actual character (rather then a self-insert), "deconstruct" the concepts of simmers/simselves casually appearing in a story, etc.

Perhaps I should change the terms "simmer" and "simself" to something else?

This is very interesting set-up here. Can't wait for a chapter one.

(PS how did you post those images on there? Just curious...)

The FAQ section of LiveJournal should help. I posted these ones on LiveJournal's servers, so I'll need to formally post future images on an outside source like Photobucket.
