What he did next he knew he would be embarrassed about later. He wrapped his arms around her,in a hug. The site of her crying was something he didn't want to see. "I'm sure she is proud, Tohru."
Tohru hiccuped, holding back tightly as she hid her face in his sweater. She didn't say anything for awhile, sniffling and crying quietly. When she finally pulled away, her face was flushed from crying and eyes still glassy. Tohru gave a small smile.
"ah th..thank you Suzaku.." Tohru said softly," I----" She looked up, heer face of mixed emotion on trying to say something. Instead she laughed weakly," ah nevermind."
Suzaku held her close as she cried, patting her head softly. He looked at her face as she pulled away from him, offering her a kind smile. "Feel better?" "Hm...?" His eyes blinked questioningly. "What is it?"
Tohru looked away, thinking of the right words to say as she glanced up," I--I'm sorry about...before..when..I found out how you felt..and I didn't say anything.." She bit her lip, holding back what she wanted to say and she looked thoughtful again.
"Suzaku I----" Tohru looked back up at him, her hands grasping his sweater," I--..." The being the person that she was, she plastered on a smile," I hope..you find happiness."
Before? Was she talking about...His face turned a bright red. Maybe his actions had been too bold, he listened intently to her.
Suzaku looked a little a taken back at her words. His heart sank once again, though he made a good job of hiding his own hurt. "I...I hope you find happiness too. Please don't stress yourself out, okay?"
When Tohru heard his words she felt worse, another wave of tears sliding down her cheeks. She wiped at the quickly, her lips trembling in a smile as her knuckled turned white from how tightly she was holding onto his sweater.
"...tha-------thank...you.." She managed out, glancing down. What seemed like forever Tohru debated on just how she felt to do. Tohru didn't want to hold back Suzaku...but...her heart ached more and she couldn't help but cry again," I..I'm sorry."
Suzaku wanted to kick himself, he made her cry yet again. How could he be this stupid? His hand landed on the top of her head. "Please don't cry..." Tohru's happiness was what he wanted, he never wanted to see tears fall down her face.
"You don't have to be sorry. I want you to be happy, I'll be okay. I promise." A half honest smile graced on his flushed face. He knew he liked her, a lot. But if that didn't make her happy he would put his own needs aside.
"What?" Still kneeling on the ground as she stood. He was clueless to what was going on, was she saying she wanted to go out with him or what? The sorry just made his heart sink more. Who knew a word could cut so much.
