I've spoken before about how much I like the New Mutants. I didn't actually start collecting the series until right after the original one ended (issue 100), but they are the X-Men nearest to my heart. Sure, I got the series out of order, but I was the right age and I grew up with them, and vice versa.

Yep, I've been digging it a lot and highly recommend it. It can be imposing because they've had quite a few crossovers already. You can probably skip Second Coming if you don't care about those big X-Men crossovers, and Age of X was really weak. But Necrosha has some good elements for a New Mutants fan, including the return of Doug Ramsey which itself makes it a must read. I still tear up thinking about when Doug and Warlock finally met again. Good stuff.

Yeah, in the current iteration of New Mutants, I'm caught up through Necrosha and the stuff with Hope & Cable coming back. I think the last thing I remember was in the middle of a story arc where there were these grown up military demon kids trying to capture Pixie or Magick?
