Oh I was so happy to see an update for this story, I absolutely love it.

The interactions with T'Pring were wonderfully done, and of course it's perfect that she should be the one to (perhaps unwittingly) create a wedge over the issue of bonding.

Gorgeous stuff, thanks so much!

wow, that was fast! :D

i'm glad you liked it- it was a little hard to get back into the feel of it, after working on something so completely different for so long, so i hope it works!

and yeah, t'pring. i don't actually like her in canon very much, so i decided to try and redeem her a little bit in my own mind. :)

thank you!

I hadn't realised I was the first. Don't you hate that? You've slaved for ages over the chapter and then someone comes along and reads it in a flash. Rest assured I will be re-reading and enjoying it all over again soon.

I also forgot to compliment you on how you portray the meld as a physical place. This bit was just lovely:

Spock sinks to his knees, touching the lines of glass that have formed in the sand, crossing the edges from crimson to beige.

“You are looking at the visual manifestation of what is happening to our minds. Jim…” he feels desperate. The glass beneath his thumb hums and pulses with energy, pure heat and light. “… we are already entangled. I do not know how far it goes. But already… already our minds seek no other.”

The outcome is inevitable, but in the meantime I'll be gagging for Spock to take ownership and accept what's happening between them.

hahaha, no, i don't actually mind. there's a real level of instant gratification to it, so, thanks for that! :p

about the meld- a few chapters ago, an artist commented and said something about how i see the meld very physically. and i hadn't really realized it, but i really do. it's a very tangible space to me, so i'm glad that's coming across. i enjoy thinking about what it would be like, a space formed from two different people's psyches. :)

oh god this was beautiful. BEAUTIFUL. The very beginning with Jim at that party? I felt exactly how Spock was feeling; I mean, Oh my fucking god. I have no idea how I can cogently express myself right now. This whole chapter was amazing. Jim, as ever, is breaking my heart. Great work! I'm glad that the big bang didn't kill your muse (i know mine did for a time), and that you're continuing this! I'm very excited, only about three more chapters right? Can't wait! :D

hooray! i'm so glad you're still with me! (omg, i haven't had a chance to read hardly *any* of the big bangs yet, sigggghhh)

no, my muse is still good, but i did have to do a lot of re-reading to make sure i wasn't dropping any threads, ha! i went back through the last chapter, and was like, "oh heyyy, i totally forgot i set THAT up...". lol. the next chapter should be easier; it's already about a third done.

yeahhh, only three more chapters left, and tbh, the last one is sort of more of an epilogue than a full on chapter.

that said, i think at this point i'm pretty much committed to a sequel, soo.... *facepalm*

thanks for sticking with me, bb!

SEQUEL!!!!!!!!!!! *dances*

but yeah, I think i've read like, one big bang in total, and that was because a friend of mine was like SHUT THE FUCK UP DROP EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING AND READ THIS.

this is still utterly compelling to read. I tried to resist, tried to wait until it is finished, but noooo I couldn't wait. I liked that they got bonded now. I love them growing together and I thought T'Pring was rather funny. Can't wait to read more :-)

aww, thanks for reading! i know, WIPs are a pain, but i swear this one will be done soon!

...are they bonded? are you... sure about that? ;)

glad you liked t'pring. i tried to make her a little more, well, human, for lack of a better word. LOL.

thanks for the comment!

they are not? Not even the beginning of one?

I try not to get too obsessive with the reading and rereading, because that'll only make it hurt more if the wip gets abandoned, but I hope your muse stays with you.

well, something's definitely happening. but I don't know if I'd use the word bond just yet... ;)

don't worry, I will absolutely finish this. :) I promise.

So very happy to see another chapter in this story. It still is my favorite Kirk/Spock story, ever, I mean that. It's been an absolute joy watching how their relationship has grown and shifted as they've become older. I really liked the way you brought T'Pring into the story and the ramifications of her comment were heart-breaking. I think my next order of business is to go back and read this from the first chapter so I can re-acquaint myself with what happened before and truly savor my favorite moments.

aww, hooray! it's really sweet of you to say so.

ah, t'pring. i have a hard time with a lot of the way she's depicted in fandom, sooo... i decided to reboot her, too. :) glad you liked it.

ooh, a reread! hope it holds up!

thanks for the comment, bb.

It more than holds up on rereading. I love it even more the second time around. Your characterizations are unparalleled and I appreciated some things I didn't notice before like the way you structured the story as vignettes from various seasons of the school year. Reading this story makes my heart sing.
