A lot of neighborhood pharmacies now have the little machines which do this. For uber-fancy books and cards, the print service built into iPhoto is also good, but takes longer.
I put them on disc and go to Fred Myer's. There are then two options...do it yourself or have them do it. The latter is a tad more expensive but I think well worth it as if, for instance, you don't like the colour balance, they will print again until they get it as you want it. N.B. Their machine does not deal with Photoshop files (.psp?) Other than that I have found them perfectly acceptable for run-of-the-mill stuff.
