Write Every Day - September Day #24 & 25

Sep 25, 2016 17:52

Trying to change anything at work is obviously pointless since it's a top down problem that the higher ups don't think is a problem at all.

Just going to keep my head down and just work and get my ass out of here as soon as possible. Focus on school and get into nursing school and get out.

Writing

I miss writing....

Tally: (will be updated

I've been sliding back into an old WIP, and have been writing for it on both days.

24: I wrote a few attempted beginnings for a short story that's been tempting me. I meant to do more than that, but didn't.

25: I and a friend had set up a writing date of sorts, sitting in separate rooms and each of us writing. That ended up being good, I wrote over 1.2K of my novel-in-progress and also did a bit of outlining and wrote two more beginnings for the short story. It did feel a bit weird to be switching between different stories like that, but it was the only day of the week I was getting more than a little done, so...

That writing date sounds interesting. It's cool that it's working for you!

I have tried it (online), but I can't work under pressure like that. I like to do things the weird way and never do exactly what I planned. ;)

Well, I didn't really feel it was pressure - we didn't compete with each other or set strict time frames or word count goals or anything. It was basically just to set aside time for writing and do that together so we'd be more likely to get it done. :-) Having agreed on it with someone else helped me give myself permission to write, despite having all those other things I should have been doing.

Might not work always, though, and I understand it isn't for everyone. :-)

My comment from yesterday was about day 24 and backwards.

Yesterday night, I skipped the piece of plot that was bothering me and wrote the transition from it into the next scene. 400 words, yay. I'm hoping to get my brain to come up with a logical way to reach that point.
