Ooh, awesome! I kind of forgot about Matt having a kid, so great observation there about him maybe looking for some atonement with TJ's baby.

I really want some backstory from the show on TJ and Young. How did they get together? It doesn't seem like it was just sex/physical attraction.

common-place as rain clouds on a Seattle afternoon
Hee! Not today! Beautiful and low 70s. I have been digging up blackberry roots all morning!

Lovely story. TJ sees how much Scott and Young are alike, with their keen sense of duty and need to atone. Good catch. Very well written, too. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much. I kind of feel torn for Scott - on the one hand he'd want to atone for abandoning the mother of the child he didn't know he had (because he keeps trying to go that one step further to get things right), and on the other, I think he'd empathize with Young not knowing he's a father (even for a short time). I'm really enjoying that, at the heart of it, these are good people who've made some bad choices and are trying to make the best of the fallout.

Thank you! Poor Matt just seemed so torn in that episode, and I like how we learn more and more about the characters by their reactions, than being outright told.

I really want some backstory from the show on TJ and Young.

Me too! But for now I'm taking this:Running from the Devil as my personal canon, until proven otherwise.

You know, I read your last line as 'digging up Blackberry(TM) roots' and and went 'what? Did I miss a product release or something?' lol. *iz dork* (and every time I've been to Seattle, it's rained ;)

Thanks you very much. I really like how the show gives us hints here, and there, about who these people were before the evacuation and I think Scott and TJ, while maybe not close, were familiar.

Thanks! They are so worn out by treading that fine line between living and just surviving at this point.

I still haven't quite got caught up on SGU, and I must admit it really hasn't grabbed me emotionally like SG1 or even Atlantis... Nice story though, you showed more feeling and 'character' depth than the show has done so far.

Oh and by the way I looove the icon! That prayer/poem from Ireland has always been my favorite. I say it to my kiddos when they have nightmares or fears before going to sleep.

Thank you very much. I wasn't completely taken with SGU at first either, until I re-watched all the episodes again back to back and caught a lot of the little details I'd missed the first time around. SG1 is still my first love, but this is a different story, and a different way of telling the story. I think the characters are getting better, but it's a slow reveal.

curtana has a whole series of those icons with different lines from the poem (a favorite of mine since I first read it in A Swiftly Tilting Planet when I was a kid. It still gives me the shivers).

Everyone is bone weary and doing their best. You do a lovely job of showing that.

This episode seemed very anti-climatic after the precious two, and you can't help but wonder how fast they're all going to burn out at that rate. And thanks!

I liked this. TJ and Scott seem to me to have such an easy friendship, and it shows in this story.

Thank you very much! I suspect they come from the same kind of working class background and share a sense of idealism that helps them relate.
