5:15 P.M. A sidewalk in New York City. Brooklyn. Stink hot with summer, scalding pavement, and a Cephalapoid sprinting off with a woman's purse

Trance was used to the hustle and bustle of the space station but it was a little unexpected to see a man running for no apparent reason. She assumed that he'd been 'captured' or whatever was happening with the non-native residents while running. That would be uncomfortable and as soon as she had that thought, Trance noticed that he hadn't been able to stop his momentum.
"OH!" She hurried over to his side. "Can I help you?"
He rubbed at the spot where he'd went barrelling into the wall, eyes widening and then narrowing as he looked at Trance. Alien species, obviously. One that he didn't recognize.
"Well, ma'am, if you could tell me where I am I'd very much appreciate it."
Even if he didn't get out of the city much, K had a pretty good idea of what was out there. A little like a man in the suburbs, watching life go by in the flickering lights of a distant metrolopolis. He knew all the street lanes and dead ends and bad parts of town, he just never really wondered in. Maybe he'd at least recognize wherever she said.
"I would if I could but I don't recognize where we are." Trance offered with a sympathetic smile and pointed toward the windows. "I don't recognize the constellations and believe me that's something very out of the ordinary. I can tell you that we're not in the Seefra system." She added helpfully.
K looked a little like he wanted to curse again, but now that he had an audience he was holding his tongue. "You have a special affinity for that sort of thing, huh?" He asked, taking another careful glance at her unusual appearance.
He would believe it. He tried not to underestimate new races he happened across. It came up from time to time.
"Some sort of dimensional gateway device sent me here, then. Maybe something that you need a homing signal to get back on." Which means if J couldn't get his shit together quick enough, he might be stuck for longer than he was willing to admit.
"I love a man who knows how to make an entrance," drawled an impressively posh British accent, wedded to the innuendo-laden vocal mannerisms of Mae West, that came from the throat of the stunning redhead of a certain age leaning in the doorway marked, 'Sally's Place.'
"Normally a man who can better watch his language around pleasant company, ma'am, I apologize..." He rubbed his shoulder, feeling an ache settle into the muscle. It would die down later. He was tougher than most.
He looked out the window, out at drifting stars. "Can you tell me where I am?"
"I have a pretty good idea of part one in getting here, it's the rest of it that's gonna be the puzzle..." His apologetic grin held, and he went ahead and offered her the chance to check his shoulder.
"Don't worry, I've done worse. That wall just jumped out quicker than the others."

"Yes, and no. This is a space station called Zion 8, but where it is, and how we got here, I have not idea. I am Sally McGee."
"May I see to your shoulder, Mister?"
