Aboard the station [Pirate Attack]

Data was busy at work in engineering, waiting for Varsh to join him. Tiberius he knew had already left with the Doctor, which left him alone with the Doctor's doppelgänger to initiate repairs on Lore ( Read more... )

Sally, saw the lights dim, then saw the computer terminal go dark, then herd the scrape of the doors, and the feet.

She frowned and began disturbing her staff and customers. Interrupting their pleasure to get them up, and armed with whatever they had. Knives, rolling pins, skillets, large pepper grinders, squirt bottles of the alcohol used for massages...

Until the computer came back on, or she heard a friendly voice, those doors were not getting opened.

The first thing that occurred was a considerable amount of fighting outside of Lady Sally's door. Scratching, thumping, scraping. All kinds of noise as whatever was on the other side was attempting to grapple it's way through.

Then there was a thud, some high pitched chittering, a couple of more thunks, and silence. Well, silence save for the rest of the ship.

"Is everyone all right in there?!" A voice, deep and earnest, called from the other side of the door. Mr. Seven had to be careful. These pirates were making their way to the quarters section, and if he was unlucky they would make it to the Beta Five.

"We are well, sir, thank you." Sally appeared in the somewhat mangled doorway holding a rolling pin, and a still steaming, but empty tea kettle.

"Do you know where we can get some real weapons," They were improvising well, but the screaming noise one of them made when he was doused with boiling water, until they clubbed him into unconsciousness had been highly unpleasant. "And what we are to do with these?" she prodded one of the inert bodies with her toe.

"No, unfortunately. My people don't use weapons. It makes it inconvenient sometimes..." He looked behind him, ducking more into the doorway when he noticed a few streaks of light not too far away in the darkness, not wanting to invite more of the thieves inside.

"We leave them for now, I assume. Can you take care of her?" He held out a black cat, which had spent most of this trip clinging to his shoulders. "If I can make it to security I can get us something."

The switch to emergency power was impossible to miss from Engineering. And Wheatfields had had an EYE on everyone-- that was no blown fuse, that was no systems failure. No accidental one, anyway.

He'd been on combat ships before.

"YOU LOT," he bellowed at the sparse Engineering crew. "Arm up. Protect the power systems as you can-- no use fixing anything till the problem's handled. I'm going into the decks. Some one's trying to bend my fucking Station over a table and I'm going to cut off anything they put in us."

If it was an enemy they'd want the armory and if it was pirates they'd still want the armory and anything useful besides. So; off to the armory, then.

[Wheatfields will be popping out of bulkheads at random, with a gun, to aid or panic your character as desired. He will also be luring pirates away and disappearing them one by one.]

So the head of engineering was going to make his way to the armory. Dr. Soong turned to Data, pushing at him. "Take your brother and go some place safe."

"I do not believe-"

"The safest place, Data!" He helped wrap Lore up in the sheet that had been covering him during his "stay" in engineering. He gave Data a desperate look. One that the android obliged by picking up his brother ( ... )

Couldn't leave a place for five minutes, could you? Wheatfields had heard the patter of feet, chitonous and moving wrong for standard Hominid. Peering out of a ventilation grate in the bulkhead, he'd seen two converging on the mild-mannered researcher who'd been hiding in Engineering ( ... )

Fortunately whatever the thing was and whatever terrible noise it was making at finding the ground vanishing beneath it, Wheatfields plan worked. Arik watched in the dimmed light as one of them had the ground vanish beneath it, it's arms scramble for purchase and it dropped its weaponry to try and pull itself out of its trap.

Personally, Dr. Soong would rather have one of those weapons than fighting with a tool.

He threw what he was holding at the second one while it was distracted by its fallen comrade (it took every ounce of willpower in him not to follow his offspring and just run off), ducking quickly to grab the pirate's gun.

The other was dazed enough that shot- and hit -the geneticist/cyberneticist. Arik managed to shoot it in the chest (Oh please let that actually kill these things...), the force throwing it back against the console. He gripped his shoulder, stomping at the black hands reaching for him on the pirate half caught, feeling warmth and wet seeping through fabric and was a little worried it wasn't hurting like ( ... )

Travis tensed when the lights went out, soldier instincts kicking in immediately. His first thought, after survive at all costs, was of Lore, and he bolted for the lab where he knew the android was being kept, priming his weapon arm on the way.

Data skulked out of engineering, carrying a wrapped figure about his size and doing his best to be discrete about it. Though despite Dr. Soong's better intentions, back distracting space pirates to the best of his ability, the android found himself blocked off at either end of a corridor by them. And now they were ignoring the screaming, loud, normal-looking people in favor of the strange pair they'd cornered.

They started to approach, until one looked at some sort of scanner and clicked to his pal. Something else cybernetic was coming, with a different sort of technology attached to it.

While trying to keep a multifaceted eye on Data, they turned to meet Travis as he was coming.

Without bothering to take careful aim, Travis fired his gun arm in the direction of the creatures. Using the covering fire to get a closer look at the cornered android, he confirmed to himself that it was definitely Data, not a reactivated Lore - but what was he carrying?

"Are you armed?" he roared at Data. "If you're not, stay down while I deal with these - things."

The android didn't recognize Travis. He was at least human enough in mannerisms that confusion sat in at the new person. He still ducked down, covering the head of whoever it was that was wrapped up in his arms.

The bugs were falling, but they wanted those androids. As long as Travis was close to them, they were minding their fire.

Raoul, OTA! adonian_loti March 31 2010, 10:26:07 UTC
Raoul spent most of his time aboard the station in quiet reflection - or, as his old mercenary colleagues might have put it, utterly stoned. It seemed the best, indeed the only, response to the strange situation he found himself in. The appearance of the planet and the subsequent mission had passed him by. Now, however, his supply of 'medication' was beginning to run out, and he was forced to venture forth to explore possibilities for acquiring the ingredients with which to make more.

He didn't expect to come face to face with a giant, ugly bug carrying a sword, however.

"Hello?" he peered up into the creature's face. "I don't suppose you can tell me the location of the nearest pharmacy? No? Well, there's no need to be rude!"

ooc: he's unarmed; if anybody wants to rescue him, that would be cool :D Warning: rescuer is likely to be smothered with kisses ;)

"Initiating defensive mode!" exclaimed a voice, mechanical and tinny, yet earnest and oddly excited.

A beam of white-hot light seared across the space between Raoul and the pirate, drawing the bug's attention towards a section of the corridor which contained a rather tall, blond-haired man and a boxy, vaguely dog-shaped...robot-thing. The invader quirked his head, pondering the 'dog' with its multi-faceted eyes.

The robot trundled closer, rhythmically firing laser shots from the end of its snout. Closely following, the man made straight for Raoul.

"Quickly!" the man called, beckoning over, "While he's distracted!"

Raoul's reactions were unnaturally fast for a Loti; he only stared at the - dog? - for a few seconds before figuring out vaguely what was going on.

"Wait!" he exclaimed, reaching back into his cabin and grabbing a small, dishevelled figure by the hand. He dragged the Little One along with him, almost pulling him off his feet. "Now I'm ready." He hurried to the stranger's side, tottering in high-heeled pumps, asking excitedly, "do we run away now?"

Varsh tilted his head, looking very much like a dog himself. "Running away would be very beneficial, yes. Hello!" He greeted the child, or what he assumed was a child, with a brief wave and a smile. "My dog will be able to hold the invader off for now, but I must remain at least nine-point-five-nine meters away. K-9?"

"Master Varsh, suggest expediting your offering of aid," said the robot dog, in earnest, clipped tones. His energy reserves were fairly low as it was, and the pair were returning to their room in order for the dog to recharge. When the intruder had arrived, however, K-9 immediately clicked into defensive mode ( ... )

As one of the persons supposedly in charge of the station, but rather feeling like she had no control at all, she stood in the hall with her back pressed against a door when the lights went out. She strained to listen in the dark, and all of the instinct from being caged in detention came back. She'd been listening to Starbuck give reports on the team down on the planet, and wished more than anything that the best shot they had in or out of the cockpit was in the station.

Trying to remember where Bill was exactly, she realized she needed to make it back to OPs somehow without getting killed. She had no weapon, and was reminded of when the cylons boarded Galactica. That had ended with more death than she cared to witness.

Poking her head around a corner as the emergency lights activated, she saw whatever it was that had boarded, giant...insect type looking things and this particular one did have a weapon. Slowly edging along the wall, she was trying to get to the next passageway without drawing attention to herself.

Mr. Seven hadn't a weapon either, but he was used to it. He was bred for the sort of environment where he'd have to duck out of their way and avoid them.

He knew there were a lot of people who weren't, though, and he'd been making his way to the armory to get a few guns back to the shops. Mostly he'd resorted to attacking bugs and taking what they had. He still wasn't nearly close enough to security to make it count.

He came up the opposite end of the hall from that armed bug, drawing its attention fortunately away from her. And it aimed at him and fired.

And he ducked too-quick out of its way. A movement smoothly and human, but too fast for most anyone flesh and blood to pull off. And him barrelling into the four armed creature was equally fast and brutal.

Laura barely suppressed a yell of surprise, clamping her own hand over her mouth. She looked over at the man, frozen in her place against the wall.

"Gods, are you alright?" She didn't move though, and she wouldn't unless she knew she wouldn't put him in unnecessary danger.

He made sure to give the bug a few more good solid kicks to keep it down, though he hated doing this much damage to anything capable of thinking. Laura's words though caught his attention.

He squinted into the dim light, before approaching her. "I suppose I should be asking you that. You're with Ops, right?"
