Immediately after receiving the message from The Doctor, Laura made her way at a sharp clip to Operations. She was noticing people slumped on the floors, and she tried hard not to think about it until she got somewhere she could be debriefed on the situation. "It's a disease!" he said, tottering from one side of Ops to the other, trying to keep different views of the station visible on different consoles. He was one for multitasking but sometimes it became a gem of a strain.

"A friend of mine from a couple of centuries ago. She's here, and she's been infected with a virus. Only I didn't fix it when it happened before. The race that created it did. But it affects people at a genetic level, and they turn into duplicates of her. Most painful thing I could recall happening to me in a while short of regeneration...."

"How contagious is it?" she asked, looking at the monitors. "I passed people on my way here who need medical assistance. We're going to have to find a way to contain this as quickly as possible to keep it from spreading."

Leaning down, she watched people in panic, then looked at The Doctor. "It sounds like we need to isolate her immediately to keep from passing the virus on."

"That's the problem. Everyone infected turns into a copy of her and when they turn into a copy of her it's another her we have weed through to get to the source, that is if they live through the experience. I'll have to send off a note to Sick Bay to start asking all the victims who experienced pain. The one that didn't will be patient zero."

He crossed his arms scowling at a terminal. "We have to keep these people from moving around so much. Computer! Quarantine the Promenade and infected areas C- E- Oh, just bring up a map. Show where's there's evidence of illness in red."

Laura watched as the screen lit up, and she pulled off her glasses. "Is there a way to keep one central causeway open between the most affected area and the clinic?" She gestured to the map. "Maybe through here? Then have a security team in protective suits start guiding the stragglers towards the clinic."
