Sauntering towards Bethlehem (OTA)

Avon couldn't help but think he'd fallen on his feet here - for the moment, at least. He was safe, as far as he could tell. He was in a place full of interesting and eminently exploitable technology and resources. And...no responsibilities. No rebellions, no life-or-death fights for humanity, no guilt trips, no getting shot at. In a word, no Blake ( Read more... )

She had come to have another go at it, and ended up staring at Avon's back. Frowning. Not because of any sort of dislike of him, but rather of their situation. She hated to admit it but she missed him, or at least the him she'd met on Sarran.

Standing idly with her arms crossed, she finally cleared her throat. She supposed, if they were both going to be there, she ought to give it her best try.

"I suppose we got off to a bad start. Or restart."

He smiled to himself without turning around, making a show of carrying on with what he was doing for a moment. Then he swung round abruptly to face her.

"Dayna. I was just thinking about you."

"Were you now? It's good to see you still retain your flair for the dramatic, though I'm sure you perfected that as a child."

She shifted her stance slightly nervously. Present her with a horde of soldiers and she would not hesitate in the least. Present her with an old friend who didn't know her anymore, and much of her brazenness shifted into the background.

"Any luck?" She asked, as if she were expecting him to have some.

Avon raised an eyebrow, uncertain whether he found Dayna's knowledge of him disconcerting, or strangely alluring. He was intrigued, in any case, by her, and what relationship they might have had in her reality.

"No luck," he replied, simply, after a moment. "If there is any information in here about our location, the system is stubbornly refusing me access to it."

Silken Floss was not attune with much of the technology, but being as she was from such a deprived era she felt she had done better then most. Her worst problem was navigating her way through the station it self and the map feature on the consoles were very unhelpful at times.

She was struggling with the thing at the moment.

"Damn machine..."She muttered low, hissing through her teeth. "Why can't it just do as I ask..." She glanced at the man nearby who seemed to be very comfortable with the thing. "I assume you know how to work these things inside and out?"

Avon looked up. "I do," he said, "although this one does not appear to like me as much as others have in the past. It refuses to give up all its secrets...what is it that you're trying to do?"

"I need a map back to the medical bay. I seem to have gotten myself lost." Again, though she did not add that part of it. She did not enjoy looking like a silly woman. Of all things, it irritated her more then anything.

"Secrets?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Ah..." that was something he could do. He hit a few buttons and called up the appropriate schematics. "Is this what you were looking for?"

He eyed the computer suspiciously. "Secrets such as...where the station actually *is* would be a good start. My name is Avon, by the way; Kerr Avon. I came in a lifepod," he added, dryly.
